DescriptionTraditionally, the residents of the Hunza valley, which is now part of the Northern Areas of Pakistan, were led by hereditary Thums (Princes), who lived in a fort in the regional centre of Baltit and took the title of Mir in the last several centuries. A number of towns and cities in this valley are home to the Ismailis.
